Worky Work

I spent the last two days over at our work space (Krista's pool house) cranking out some furniture. I cannot believe how fast the time goes when we're out there priming, painting, waxing, buffing, fixing, crafting. We listen to Pandora (yesterday was Mumford & Sons...recommend) and only stop to show each other recent pins on Pinterest or a tutorial or cool video.

This is a darling pink chair I picked up awhile back and couldn't wait to get to it. It was already pink, but a faded, dirty pink so I mixed up some fresh pink (a blend of some oops paint Krista had picked up, some white primer and a little bit of plaster of paris for grit) and gave it a nice new coat of happy. Check out her nice front legs....ohhhhh la la!!

But this awesome, cheery flower fabric was the cat's meow, a perfect match. This chair would be so darn cute in a little girl's room or paired up with a nice vanity. Available for $55.

This is just a glimpse of the mess we make. Furniture in all stages of priming or painting or gluing.

We have two table packed with projects. We dance from one to the other and sometimes have 7 or 8 different paint brushes going.

This little table wasn't in the que for long. Sometimes it's best to just bring it on in
and git er done.

Krista worked on her second piece of a set she purchased last fall.

I love this piece....such nice lines.

Here's the table that includes a leaf and 6 chairs. Now to get to the huge china cabinet.

She reupholstered the chairs in this great black and white fabric that will go with any decor.

We finished up a wholelotta small items too. I couldn't believe how many things we had lined up to be primed and painted and then deciding what bling to add to them. We put some cute knobs on this one to hang jewelry or keys or whatever you need to hang up. So dern cute!

Sometimes I even redo furniture for myself. This was a roadkill rescue. My brother-in-law was about to take this to the dump but offered it to me first. youbetcha! As ugly as it is, I knew it would fit beside my bed where I desperately needed a place to put my lamp and clock and flashlight and it couldn't be more than 15" wide.

Painted it white (in trips downstairs while I was dyeing yarn or looking for tools...it takes no time at all if you paint coats while doing other chores).

Distressed it just a bit, put a cute knob on it and called it a day. It does need some 'feet' though as it is a bit too short.

I've refinished I don't know how many chairs in the last few months. Krista and I seem to have a thing for chairs. We've done at least 40 chairs and have around 50 in the barn to be redone. My dining room chairs needed some love. This fabric was put on back in the 90's (and it looks it!) Dated much?!

I did one chair with this striped fabric about 10 years ago but didn't finish the other 5 chairs.

But I fell in love, love, love, with this fabric at Hobby Lobby.

Ta da! All 6 chairs done! And every time I walk into the dining room (which unlike most dining rooms, is in the center of our house and used allofthetime), I just have to smile. My son even asked if I was getting ready for spring. Yep!

Sweet Sale Thanks

Thanks to all who came out for the Sweet Sale. You all made it a success. And only ONE person got stuck! It was really muddy and squooshy. I introduced
'Cha Cha', a strand of lustrous rayon and thin brushed mohair. Spring Meadow color shown.

Mermaid

Autumn

Mambo is new also. It's a Merino/Silk blend, DK weight and very soft.

I still have some of the baby alpaca left. I'll put it up on etsy soon.

I found this adorable baby stroller last month and it was perfect for my freshly dyed red yarns.

And I scored this great shelf/cart recently. It'll be great for shows.

Roses for the Sweet Sale.

What didn't sell will go on sale on etsy soon, so check back.

Cha Cha Cha

I'm in love with dyeing this new yarn of mine, Cha Cah. I've stranded a super skinny brushed mohair with this lustrous nylon yarn and the marriage is magnifico!
Perfect for Valentine's Day.
Cha Cha will you be my Valentine?! This color way is Spring Meadow.

I don't usually do Autumn this time of year, but I want to see what this yarn does with all my color ways. I like!

Mermaid

and an all time favorite is Carnival.
These will all be featured at my Sweet Sale this Saturday, February 16, 10-5.
Come see for yourself.

February Barn Sale at Chirp

Stylish Patina Barn Sale

this weekend, February 16 and 17, 10-5.

 4051 Stanford Ct., Frederick, MD

Well, Krista and I finally finished setting up for the February Barn Sale today. We wore gloves, hats, scarves and Krista smartly wore her Uggs. It was a damp cold and we were chilly, but we got 'er done. We've gone with a black and white theme this time, which is weird for us because we usually have a punch of candy color. Doin' the neutral.

We finished all the barn wood hangers. Love this one. It should go on my barn.

Krista repurposed this coffee table into a bench. Love! Use it at the end your bed for all those pillows that your husband hates!

This old pub type sign came from the Hot Shoppe on Wisconsin Ave in D.C. It's authentic and awesome. It could be yours for just $150.

Glass decanters - $20 each. I recently put one in my bathroom (not one of these!) for mouthwash. I have to remember not to swallow it.

Love this frame. I painted it white, distressed it and put a photo of my Granny Grace in it. She sure was a cutie.

My gold and white fancy lamp with restructured lampshade. Pretty cool.

If you're looking for a more industrial, manly look, grab one of the oil rubbed bronze beauties with the retro 'Edison' bulbs.

The Frilly Vanity...first offered up in natural wood, then it got a water stain from the barn, so it became white. I actually had every intention of painting it white, so my wish came true. It does look so much better. It's yours for $195.

If you are short on glasses, we have plenty this time. These are our Romanesque liquid containers. They have Romans riding in chariots...how great is that?

I do love the retro and these had to be pried out of my arms. I have a thing for small glasses so if these don't sell, I'll be drinking my wine out of them next week!

Crystal wine goblets

ohhhhh! More retro glasses!

These half tables are so darn handy. They fit right up against your wall! How clever is that?!

OK, this is a steal. A large dresser with a mirror for only $125. It's cute, sweet and practical and inexpensive. What more do you want?! When you get it home you can look in its mirror and tell yourself you are a winner for getting such a deal!

We scored this huge oval mirror a couple weeks ago. It was a gaudy gold, so we toned it down with white and now it's just perfect. Put it in your foyer for a quick glimpse of yourself before going out, making sure you don't have spinach in your teeth.

Subtle natural tones

So come on out and get something black or white that you didn't think you needed.
