Color of the Year…Woot!

Pantone just announced their color of the year….Radiant Orchid. I do love this color. Last year's color was Emerald Green and I did not embrace that color at all. Ewww! It's great for an emerald, in the outdoors and maybe a dragon, but I don't want it in my house or on my yarn. But Radiant Orchid is a color I can get behind.

l.o.v.e.

I thought I had the color pegged with my Rose dye color. I didn't want to have to mix colors because I'm not that accurate on the mixing part and it's hard to duplicate. But this was tooooooo pink.

At the same time I dyed my tried and true lavender to see what that would do. Nope.

So I had to mix fuscia with a bit of violet and voila! Orchid!
I know this looks a bit dark and deep orchid, but it's actually a wee bit lighter in person. I can't go too light because I've tried lighter colors before and I find my customers just don't buy it. So I have to go a bit darker.

Here they are, too pink, too purple, just right.

'Oh Orchid' will be available in the shop soon!

I'm not a purple person, but I like this and would wear a shawl or cowl in this color. It is a refreshing color and just right for an introduction to spring. I need something bright in March-April, so I'll be ordering.
