Poor little Posie Girl has a problem. She falls and she can't get up. She's old and skinny but a real trooper and the sweetest girl. She runs right up to me, follows me around and is my white shadow in the field.
She spent 3 days in the barn/hospital, after we found her laying in the field on her side, not able to right herself. She was a bit aways from the barn, but I kept getting her up and inching her towards the barn and we finally made it. I got her all settled in, gave her some electrolytes, molasses, cracked corn and minerals. I wanted to get her a pillow and blanket, but laid a bed of straw for her instead. My neighbor, Audry, helped out, checking on her while I was away for an evening. We'd shine the flashlight on her and she'd just blink and wondered why we were waking her up. I woke up at 3:00 a.m. comfy, cozy in my bed and thought of her in the barn, perhaps struggling to get up. So off I went to to see if she was ok. If she was up against the wall, she'd be just fine. She got stronger and stronger and could finally get up by herself.
Saturday during studio tour, I thought she was doing well enough to let her out. She walked out, ate some green grass and seemed happy to be out in the sunshine. I was over by the fence and she spotted me and ran right over.
Here she comes!
Hi Posie Girl.
I could rename her 'Freckles'.
I am so happy she's better. Posie, please oh please, don't get stuck on your side!
