What Was I Thinking?!!!

One night last week, in the middle of the night, I awoke not feeling so great. What I had rhymes with onomonopia. Where did THIS come from? By getting up time, I still felt like crapola, but made my coffee, had a couple cups, a little bite to eat and felt even worse. I now had a monster headache. It felt like a band was around my head and being tightened by a very mean person. This was the last beautiful day of the year, 79 degrees, sunny, clear, with amazing colors of leaves still on the trees. But I was not able to enjoy this glorious day because I spent nearly all day on top of my bed. I made the bed, thinking that would keep me out of it, but as soon as I'd get some knitting, or grab a book to read outside, I'd just move to the bed instead. I'm not used to being sick and luckily I'm almost never sick so when I do get a bug I think I have cholera or malaria or cancer. These things usually move very fast through me and in 6-8 hours I'm on my feet again speeding around getting things done. But this time it lasted all day. I had book club that night and REALLY wanted to go and tried to rally by giving myself a pep talk but instead I put in the movie "That's Complicated" and went to bed by 8:45.

In the middle of the night I woke up with the frightful thought, "#@$!*, it's the BLUE bag!" I had made coffee with pure decaf beans! For those of you who are true addicts like myself, this is like poison! I've not gone a day without real, true, rich coffee for 32 years (well, once I did and nearly ended up in the hospital!). I admit I did have an intestinal bug but that did go away mid-day but the stupid headache only got worse. I thought it was part of my whole cholera/malaria/cancer thing and felt increasingly sorry for myself.

But this is what I'm talkin' about! French press, coffee grinder and for real, rich, dark, oily coffee beans = BLISS! After two cups of deliciousness, the headache was gone and I didn't have cholera. Yay! And thanks, I'm feeling much better!
